A runaway AI bill, and what I built to cut it

A venture backed startup had a customer facing AI product whose monthly bill was climbing faster than its usage. I audited where the money went, tiered the models, added caching, trimmed the prompts, and cut the bill by about 40 percent in three weeks with no drop in quality.
